We’ve all been there. You walked out of the salon, looked in the mirror at home, and realized something went very wrong. Here’s how to survive until it grows out or you can get it fixed.
For Cuts That Are Too Short

Hats are your best friend, but you can’t wear one everywhere. Try texturizing products to add volume and make thin areas look fuller. A matte clay or sea salt spray can work wonders for adding visual thickness.
If bangs are the problem, bobby pins and headbands can keep them swept back while they grow.
For Uneven Cuts
A straightener or curling iron can help disguise wonky layers. Curling hair away from your face creates movement that masks unevenness. Low buns and braids also hide a lot of sins.
For Bad Fades
This one’s tricky because there’s not much to work with. Your best bet is going back to the barber (or a different one) and asking them to even it out. Most will do minor fixes for free if you come back within a few days.
The Nuclear Option
Sometimes a bad haircut just needs professional intervention. Don’t be afraid to go to a different salon and ask for a correction. Bring photos of what you wanted versus what you got. A skilled stylist can often salvage the situation.
And remember – hair grows about half an inch per month. This too shall pass.
